H.R Giger--painter, sculptor, designer, interior acrchitect, and mastermind of surreal biomechanical art. I find h.r. giger compelling because of his amazing talent at bringing the darkness that hides beneath the surface in mankind out in a searing, frightful, and unforgettable way. His talents lie not only in painting, but in sculpture, architecture, and movies. His visions were dark, disturbing, surreal, unreal, and often offensive. But, he has never ceased to amaze me with the incredible visions he was able to pull from his mind and share with the world. Never have I seen an artist with such a clear ability to bring man and machine into one being, one soul. His frightening, shocking, and yes, sublime images are nightmarish and peaceful all at once. The detail with which he created, made me feel he was creating from memory, not imagination. I find his works emotionally stunning and full of the eye of a virtuoso visionary. In my mind he created the death of the softness of humanity, birth of the harshness of life, and a window into the eternity of existence without frailty.

H.R. Giger died in May, 2014. I will miss discovering new artworks by him.
